Childhood and Musical Influences

Harket grew up in a family involved in the confectionery business and became well-known for their "Scotch Pie" pastries. From a young age, he was most passionate about the music of Uriah Heep and listened to artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Johnny Cash, Elton John, and David Bowie. Music became his salvation during his teenage years, as he was not particularly popular in school and often found himself alone.

Early Career and Formation of A-ha

After completing his schooling, Harket initially studied theology before joining the army. In the late 1970s, fate brought Harket together with Magne Furuholmen and Pål Waaktaar, who would become his future bandmates in A-ha. However, it would be a couple of years before the band was formed. A-ha was officially established on September 14, 1982, which also happened to be Harket's birthday. Although the group faced initial failures, they eventually caught a break and gained a large following by the mid-1980s.
