Early Life and EducationMoses Ingram was born in 1994 in Baltimore, Maryland. Raised in a large, working-class African American family, her early years were filled with a love for television and performing. At the age of 10, Ingram enrolled in an after-school drama program at Windsor Hills Elementary School. Recognizing her talent, her family encouraged her to pursue the arts.
Ingram went on to attend the Baltimore School for the Arts and later Baltimore City Community College. Despite the college's lack of formal acting classes, she actively participated in theater productions. While working to support herself and her family, Ingram won the National Society of Arts and Literature's regional competition in 2015. This caught the attention of "Lovecraft Country" star Jonathan Majors, who encouraged her to apply to the Yale School of Drama.
Breakthrough with "The Queen's Gambit"
In 2019, shortly after graduating from Yale, Ingram moved to New York City to pursue her acting career. After appearing in the short film "Candace," she auditioned for the Netflix limited series "The Queen's Gambit." To her surprise, she landed the supporting role of Jolene, a childhood friend of the titular chess prodigy, Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy).
The series became a critical and commercial success, transforming Ingram's life overnight. She received an Emmy nomination and witnessed the show's accolades at major award ceremonies.

In 2021, Ingram starred in the drama "Thunder Force" and Joel Coen's adaptation of "The Tragedy of Macbeth." Alongside Academy Award winners Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, she held her own as Lady Macduff.
Ingram's versatility continued to shine in 2022 with "Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi" and "Ambulance." In the Disney+ series, she portrayed Reva Sevander, a conflicted former Jedi who became an Inquisitor for the Empire. In the Michael Bay-produced thriller, she showcased her range alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
