Early Life and Education
Moisei Abramovich Blank (1907-1983) was born in Poltava, Ukraine, into a family of Jewish architects. At an early age, he exhibited a natural talent for the arts and enrolled at the Kharkiv Art School (1925-1930), where he studied under renowned instructors such as Mikhail Burachek, Oleg Marenkov, and Mikhail Fyodorov.
Artistic Career
Blank's artistic career spanned several decades, marked by diverse mediums and subject matter. He excelled in both painting and graphic arts, employing techniques such as watercolor, gouache, pastel, linocut, and oil painting. His works often captured scenes of everyday life, landscapes, and the horrors of war.
Military Service
During World War II, Blank served in the ranks of the Soviet army and fought on the Eastern Front. His experiences during the war deeply influenced his later works, which depicted the devastation and resilience of the human spirit in times of conflict.
