Early Life

Mubariz Ibrahimov was born on February 7, 1988, in Aliabad village, Pushkin District, Azerbaijan. From 1994 to 2005, he attended Malik Piriyev School in Aliabad.

Military Service

In March 2006, Ibrahimov was drafted into military service by the Bilasuvar District Military Commissariat. He was discharged as a subgroup commander on November 20, 2007. On September 18, 2009, he voluntarily re-enlisted and completed warrant officer training at the Armed Forces Training and Education Center. He served in Naftalan following his graduation.

Death and Controversy

On the night of June 18-19, 2010, Ibrahimov was killed in a clash in Chayli village. The Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA) reported that he died while repelling an attack by Armenian forces, while other sources claim it was due to Armenian shelling. According to Armenian media, he was killed during a reconnaissance attack on Armenian positions. Ibrahimov's body reportedly remained in Armenian-controlled territory. Both sides blamed each other for initiating the clash.

Aftermath

The following day, the Azerbaijani news agency ANSpress reported that Ibrahimov's funeral had taken place, but the report was later removed. The situation surrounding the return of Ibrahimov's body became contentious. The Azerbaijani Ombudsman appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance, while the Armenian side denied receiving an official request. The Armenian Defense Ministry claimed that Ibrahimov's body had never been in their possession.

Social Media Controversy

On August 3, 2010, photographs of a body resembling Ibrahimov were posted on the social networking site Odnoklassniki. The International Committee of the Red Cross investigated the incident, and Armenian media accused Azerbaijan of provocation.
