A rising star in Swiss cycling, Lena Furrer excelled in multiple disciplines, including mountain biking, cyclo-cross, and road cycling. Her promising career was tragically cut short at the age of 18.

On September 27, 2024, Furrer's life was tragically cut short. While competing in the 2024 UCI Road World Championships, she suffered a devastating fall. Her body was found in a forest near the roadside, where she had lain unnoticed for some time before being airlifted to a hospital. Despite the heroic efforts of medical personnel, her injuries proved fatal.
