Early Life and Education
Надежда Максимовна Гулая, a distinguished Ukrainian scientist, was born in Kyiv on June 12, 1936. Her illustrious academic journey began at the Kyiv Medical Institute, where she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine in 1959. Subsequently, she pursued postgraduate studies at the Department of Biochemistry, earning her Candidate of Sciences degree in biochemistry in 1962.
Academic Career
In 1962, Dr. Gulaya commenced her career as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Her exceptional research earned her the Doctorate of Sciences degree in 1975.
Since 1975, Dr. Gulaya has been affiliated with the A. V. Palladin Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU). During her tenure, she ascended through the ranks, culminating in her appointment as Head of the Department of Lipid Biochemistry in 1992.
Scientific Contributions
Dr. Gulaya's prolific scientific endeavors have resulted in approximately 250 scholarly publications, including groundbreaking research. Her expertise encompasses medical biochemistry, with a particular focus on lipid biochemistry. Notably, she has mentored two Doctors of Sciences and 16 Candidates of Sciences.
