Biography of Nadir Alysh Aliyev

Nadir Alysh Aliyev was an Azerbaijani officer and a National Hero of Azerbaijan. He was born on July 30, 1962, in the village of Aliagaly in the Agdam region. He attended the Baku Polytechnic College from 1977 to 1981. In 1991, he graduated from the F. E. Dzerzhinsky Higher School of the KGB, and in 1993, he completed his law degree at the Baku State University.

In 1991, Aliyev began his active military service in the Ministry of National Security. From September to December 1991, he worked in the Mardakert District branch of the KGB, which later became the Ministry of National Security. In 1992, he was appointed as the senior operative officer in the Agderin District branch responsible for Karabakh.

During the hostilities in the Mardakert area, Nadir Aliyev voluntarily requested to be sent to the front line. He demonstrated personal courage by participating in combat operations in the village of Sirhavend as part of a special unit of the Ministry of National Security. On July 22, 1993, he heroically died in battle defending the village of Giyasly in the Agdam region, resisting the enemy until his last moments.

In recognition of his bravery and sacrifice, Nadir Aliyev was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 9, 1994.
