Naomi Faesy's Extraordinary Childbirth
Naomi Faesy, a New Zealand woman, miraculously saved her daughter from umbilical cord strangulation.
The Pregnancy Complications
Faesy's water broke two weeks prematurely, posing a life-threatening complication: a prolapsed umbilical cord. This put her unborn child at risk of asphyxiation.
The Heroics of Midwife Sue Bree
Midwife Sue Bree arrived on the scene and immediately took charge. She inserted her hand into Faesy's birth canal to hold the baby back from the cord for 90 minutes. With her other hand, she called for an obstetrician from Whangarei Hospital, using a phone positioned next to Faesy's buttocks.
Emergency Evacuation
A firefighter transported Faesy to a nearby school where a medical plane was waiting. Bree reassured her, "If you're religious, now's a good time to start praying."
A Life-Saving C-Section
An emergency cesarean section was performed at the hospital, resulting in the birth of a healthy baby girl named Amelia.
Gratitude and Relief
Faesy expressed her immense gratitude to Bree and the other rescuers: "I don't know if they can ever understand how grateful we are. Words can't begin to express it."
