Early Life and Club Career
Olivier Kapo, a French footballer of Ivorian descent, is a renowned striker who rose through the ranks of the Choisy-le-Roi football academy. From there, he joined the youth team of Auxerre and eventually broke into the first team. Kapo established himself as a regular and soon earned a call-up to the French national team.
International Career
From 2002 to 2004, Kapo represented France at the international level. Notably, he played in the 2003 Confederations Cup, contributing to the team's victory. Overall, he appeared in 9 matches for France, scoring 3 goals.
European Club Transfers
After becoming a free agent in 2004, Kapo signed with Juventus. However, he struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup. He went on loan to Monaco but found limited success there too. His next destination was Levante, and eventually, Juventus sold him to Birmingham City.
English Premier League and Wigan Athletic
Kapo spent one season at Birmingham, enduring the club's relegation from the Premier League. Despite his departure, Birmingham manager Steve Bruce brought Kapo with him to Wigan Athletic. However, Kapo once again failed to secure a regular starting role and was sent on loan to Boulogne on January 8, 2010. Unfortunately, Boulogne suffered relegation to Ligue 2 at the end of the season.
Later Career
With his contract with Wigan ending in 2010, Kapo became a free agent and subsequently joined Celtic. He then played for Qatar's Al-Ahli and had stints in France with Auxerre and Greece with Levadiakos. Kapo's career also included a spell in Poland with Korona Kielce.
