Early Career

In 1992, at the height of Madonna's popularity, Nargiz dyed her hair white and performed a bold program in short shorts and with backup dancers. People called her the Uzbek Madonna, but also criticized her. In 1995, Zakirova emigrated to the United States. By that time, she had divorced her first husband Ruslan Sharipov and had a five-year-old daughter named Sabina. She was also pregnant again. She started from scratch, settling in New York. Initially, it was not easy for her in a foreign country where she knew no one. She had to work in a store, a video salon, and a pizzeria. She managed to make connections and soon began performing in a restaurant. She notes that performing in American restaurants is very different from karaoke performances. She worked with serious musicians. She soon released the album "Golden Cage" in an ethnic style, which was successful and quickly sold out in the United States. She also worked in a tattoo salon. She attempted to form groups several times, but it did not work out due to various reasons such as a lack of desire for progress, negligence, and excessive ambition of some members. After several unsuccessful attempts, she decided to work and perform alone. Having lived in the United States for some time, Nargiz considered the possibility of returning to Russia. However, as she herself says, she was made to understand that she had nothing to do in Russia without connections and significant financial resources.

The Voice and Collaboration with Maxim Fadeev

In 2013, Nargiz participated in the auditions for the second season of the project "The Voice" in Russia. The viewers and the mentors were amazed by her voice. To participate in this project, she had to give up participating in the X-Factor show in America. Making this choice, the singer immediately became known throughout Russia. Nargiz reached the semi-finals, receiving a higher percentage from her mentor on the project - Leonid Agutin, and gaining recognition from the audience. She took second place and after the project ended, she signed a contract with Maxim Fadeev. During their collaboration, the singer released several music videos, and Russian fans and fans from other countries especially loved the music videos for the songs "You Are My Tenderness", "I Don't Believe You", and "Together". Nargiz was eagerly awaited in all cities of Russia, and she also performed concerts in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Europe. In the summer of 2019, Russian media disappointed Nargiz's fans with the news that she and Maxim Fadeev had stopped collaborating. Rumors circulated about the reasons for the conflict between Nargiz and Fadeev, and some sources even hinted at a romantic relationship between the singer and her producer. The exact reason for their breakup and dispute is not known, but Maxim Fadeev, known for his principles, banned Nargiz from performing the songs he had written. Therefore, songs like "Together" and "You Are My Tenderness" were included in the ban. Nargiz had to postpone her autumn tour and prepare a new program. In a subsequent interview, Nargiz described the period of collaboration with Fadeev as "five years of hell and slavery," and Fadeev, in turn, stated that he could not elevate Nargiz from the level of a karaoke singer to a higher level. A couple of months later, Fadeev experienced a heart attack and the next day terminated contracts with all the artists of the Malfa label, giving them the rights to their songs. The only exceptions were Nargiz and Oleg Miami.

Personal Life

Nargiz's first husband and the father of her first daughter was Ruslan Sharipov, a member of the Tashkent rock band Bayt, which performed music in the style of the popular Swedish group Europe in the 80s and 90s. Nargiz and Ruslan got married one and a half months after their first meeting. Soon after the birth of their daughter Sabina, the young couple realized that they had rushed into marriage. The turning point was Sharipov's infidelity with a young Korean woman. Nargiz, being monogamous by nature, could not forgive betrayal. According to Nargiz, she easily ended her relationship with Sharipov. Since their divorce, Sharipov has only called her four times and has shown no interest in their daughter's life. Nargiz's second husband was Ernur Kanaibekov, whom she met shortly before leaving for the United States. When Nargiz emigrated, she was six months pregnant. She left without her husband, and Ernur came later. There was no celebratory reunion of the family: the meeting after a long separation was cold, and the man showed more attention to their son than to his wife. Shortly before their divorce in 1997, Ernur called Nargiz from a Russian restaurant and told her to come and listen to an Italian singer who was performing there. That's how Nargiz met Filippo Balzano, her future third husband, and got her first job as a singer. In her marriage to Filippo Balzano, the singer gave birth to their daughter Leila. The marriage between Nargiz and Filippo lasted until 2016. According to some reports, their marriage did not withstand the test of fame and distance. In 2017, Filippo also tried to win over the Russian audience and became a participant in the seventh season of the show project "The Voice". According to him, he never accepted Nargiz's departure and did not find a new love. Shortly after, the singer revealed that her husband exerted emotional pressure on her and lived off her money. She fulfilled all of Filippo's whims, but when he owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to dubious creditors, Nargiz could not bear it. After their breakup, her ex-husband threatened her and Aurelius. After the parents' divorce, Leila decided to stay with her father in the United States, telling her mother, "Mom, I love you madly, I'm on your side, but in this situation, it's better for you to stay with grandma and Aurelius." She wanted to protect her father from mistakes. The eldest daughter gave birth to Nargiz's grandson, Noah. Sabina has not decided on her life path yet and is interested in Buddhism and esoterics. Aurelius is trying his hand at acting, and the youngest daughter, Leila, dreams of becoming a meteorologist.
