Early Life and Family

Nathaniel Wolf was born on December 17, 1994, in Los Angeles to a family steeped in the arts. His father, Michael Wolf, is a jazz pianist, composer, and actor, while his mother, Polly Draper, is a film and television star, producer, and director. Shortly after Nat's birth, the family moved to New York City, where his younger brother Alex was born.

Childhood Inspirations and Musical Beginnings

From a young age, Nat and Alex played together, often pretending to be a band they called "The Naked Brothers." They drew inspiration from the Beatles and fostered a love of music. Nat taught himself to play the piano at the age of four, later mastering the guitar and writing his own songs. He performed with his friends in the band Silver Boulders.

Early Acting and Charity Work

While Nat initially aspired to become an actor, his mother initially resisted the idea of her sons entering the limelight so early. However, in 2003 and 2004, he made his theatrical debut in Broadway and off-Broadway productions alongside his mother.

At the age of seven, Nat organized a charity concert that raised $46,000 for New York firefighters who had responded to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Breakthrough with "The Naked Brothers Band"

Nat's big break came in 2005 when he and Alex starred as themselves in the comedy series "The Naked Brothers Band," a mockumentary about a fictional rock group. The series aired on Nickelodeon and featured original music written and performed by Nat.

Film and Television Success

Following the success of "The Naked Brothers Band," Nat continued to appear in films and television shows. In 2014, he co-starred with Selena Gomez in the teen comedy "Behaving Badly." Later that year, he played a supporting role in the romantic drama "The Fault in Our Stars" as Isaac, a cancer survivor who befriends Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus (Ansel Elgort).

Return to Theater

Despite his film and television success, Nat maintained a presence on the theater stage. In 2016, he starred alongside Taissa Farmiga and Ed Harris in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Buried Child" by Sam Shepard.

Later Film and Television Work

In 2017, Nat took on a leading role in the Japanese manga adaptation "Death Note," playing a high school student who finds a supernatural notebook that can kill anyone whose name is written in it. He also appeared in an episode of the horror anthology series "Room 104."

After a series of smaller projects, Nat returned to the big screen in the fantasy-action film "The Thunderbolts" as a witness to a murder who suffers from memory loss and a neurological disorder.

He also played a supporting role in the miniseries "The Stand," based on Stephen King's novel of the same name.

Personal Life

Nat Wolf's first long-term relationship was with actress Miranda Cosgrove, from 2009 to 2011. He later dated Margaret Qualley for two years. The couple starred together in "Palo Alto" and reunited in "Death Note" after their breakup.

Nat was later linked to Suki Waterhouse, Ashley Benson, and Bella Thorne. In 2017, he began dating fellow actor Grace Van Patten. They broke up after four years of dating.

Current Projects

In winter 2021, Nat Wolf joined the cast of the miniseries "The Consultant," which premiered in February 2023. The series stars Christoph Waltz and follows a consulting firm faced with financial difficulties.
