Early Life and Family

Nate Robinson is the eldest of seven brothers. His father, Jacque Robinson, played football for the University of Washington and was named the MVP in the Rose Bowl in 1982 and the Orange Bowl in 1985. His mother, Renee Busch, worked at a beauty salon in Seattle.

Nate Robinson played all 13 football games for the University of Washington in 2002, starting all six final competitions in the Sun Bowl. He made two interceptions, 34 total tackles, and 103 yards on collision, making him a standout defender. His father was confident that Nate would give up football for basketball in 2002. Jacque said, "I always knew he had talent. That's why I told him if he dedicated himself to one sport, he would see results. You can't achieve anything by doing two sports."

Nate Robinson was transferred to Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, which would later become the alma mater of his future teammate, Jamal Crawford, after attending a local school near Oakland. As a freshman in 2001-2002, he led Rainier Beach to a state title with 28-1 points and an average of 17.9 points per game. He dunked for the first time in eighth grade. His favorite book is "Puss in Boots".

Nate Robinson has a son named Nahmir, born on October 26, 2004. Unfortunately, his brother, Deron Isaiah Robinson, died from SIDS in 1997.
