Biography of Rony Seikaly
Rony Seikaly is a former American professional basketball player, originally from Lebanon, and a star of the National Basketball Association (NBA), with numerous prestigious awards to his name.
Early Life
Rony Seikaly was born on May 10, 1965, in Beirut, Lebanon. His relatives were originally from Palestine, but they moved to Lebanon in 1948 and later obtained citizenship. When Rony was nine years old, he left Beirut and his elementary school to move with his family to Greece, where he spent the rest of his childhood.
In Athens, Seikaly enrolled in the prestigious American Community School. When Rony turned seventeen, he joined the Greek soccer club Panathinaikos, but he was unable to participate in any matches due to his nationality. Consequently, he decided to move to the United States of America.
College and NBA Career
In 1984, Rony Seikaly enrolled at Syracuse University in New York and joined the men's basketball team. He quickly rose through the ranks of his sport and was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player in 1990.
In 1994, Seikaly joined the Golden State Warriors and played with the team for two seasons. He then transferred to the Orlando Magic. In the 1997 season, Rony signed a contract with the Utah Jazz, but the deal proved to be futile as he suffered a leg injury and was unable to play until the beginning of 1998. Afterward, Seikaly reached an agreement with the New Jersey Nets.
Achievements and Retirement
Throughout his career, Rony Seikaly achieved numerous accolades, including winning a championship title and a gold medal in the 1986 World Championship while representing the American National Basketball Team.
After retiring from professional basketball, Seikaly ventured into real estate. Today, he is the owner of million-dollar investments and is also a co-founder of several clubs and restaurants. Currently, Rony Seikaly is not married. His former spouse, Elsa Benitez, divorced the basketball player in 2005. They have a daughter together named Mila.
