Biography of Natasha Hastings
Natasha Hastings was born on July 23, 1986, in Brooklyn, New York. She is a professional American athlete who specializes in short distance sprinting. Natasha's parents, Joan Gardner and Charles Hastings, are residents of Jamaica and Trinidad, which gives her the opportunity to acquire citizenship in multiple countries. She has a younger brother named Justin, who is her biggest supporter and critic. Most of her relatives and friends call her Tasha.
Early Athletics Career
When Tasha turned 10 years old, she accompanied her mother to the "Colgate Women's Games" competition in Brooklyn. It was there that she caught the attention of coach Sean London, who offered her the chance to pursue athletics. At first, Tasha's mother took it as a joke, but after a month, she enrolled her daughter in the track and field section. Within a few months, Tasha became the winner of competitions in New York in the 60 and 200-meter sprints.
Rise to Success
With each season, Natasha Hastings improved her results. Eventually, her coach decided to focus on the 400-meter distance, as she was not performing as well in longer distances. She often trained with older children due to her exceptional results for her age. Tasha became the winner of the Junior Championships multiple times. In 2004, she recorded a time of 52.92 seconds in the 400-meter event. She led the Junior National Team at the World Junior Athletics Championships, winning the 4x400-meter relay and setting a record of 3:27.60 minutes.
University and National Success
After finishing high school, Natasha Hastings enrolled at the University of South Carolina. There, she began training under coach Curtis Frayaras. From her very first season, she became a team leader and the best sprinter for the university. She won the national championship multiple times, bringing victory to her university. In 2008, Natasha Hastings will participate in the Olympics in Beijing, competing in the 4x400-meter relay.
Life Outside Athletics
In her free time from training, Natasha enjoys cooking for her family. She is quite creative and inventive in the kitchen. Her mornings start with a short run and a delicious breakfast. Natasha always maintains a healthy lifestyle and does not endorse harmful habits.
