Natasha Margaret Kaplinsky, a renowned British television presenter, was born on September 9, 1972, in Brighton, East Sussex, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Raphael Kaplinsky, an economics professor at the Open University of Britain, and his wife Catherine, a psychotherapist.

Natasha's great-grandparents, Raphael and Malka, tragically perished in a Nazi-set fire at a synagogue, while her grandfather emigrated from Slonim, now a Belarusian city, to South Africa in 1929.

Natasha began her career as a television presenter alongside Sacha Baron Cohen on the youth chat show "F2F" on LWT channel in 1996. She later moved to Meridian, where she presented morning news. In 1999, Natasha became the host of "London Today," "London Tonight," and the political TV show "Seven Days."

In November 2000, Kaplinsky joined Sky News, co-hosting the show "Live at Five" with Jeremy Thompson, as well as the morning news program "Sunrise." In November 2002, she presented "BBC Breakfast" with Dermot Murnaghan from Monday to Thursday, and later took Sophie Raworth's place on the news program "BBC News at Six."

On October 5, 2007, the BBC confirmed that Kaplinsky had decided to leave the network to join "Five News" on Channel Five. It was reported that the BBC paid her £175,000, while Five offered her a sum exceeding £300,000. Natasha made her first broadcast on the new channel on February 18, 2008.

She co-hosted the show's second series with Bruce Forsyth until the return of the regular host, Tess Daly, from maternity leave.
