Nebojša Majdov: A Distinguished Judoka and Political Figure

Born in Istočno Sarajevo, Nebojša Majdov is a decorated Bosnian and Serbian judoka who has achieved remarkable success in his sporting career. Competing in the under-90 kg weight category, he has won numerous national, European, and world championships.

Early Successes and National Championships

Majdov's journey began with early victories in national cadet competitions, where he became the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, he claimed the Serbian cadet title and secured a silver medal at the World Cadet Championships.

Rise Through the Ranks

The following years witnessed Majdov's continued success, as he captured the Serbian junior silver medal in 2014 and became a two-time junior champion in 2015 and 2016. On the senior level, he triumphed as the Bosnian and Herzegovinian champion in 2011 and claimed bronze in 2012. From 2014 to 2016, he was crowned the Serbian senior champion three times.

International Triumphs

Majdov's international career has been marked by exceptional achievements. He earned the World Championship title in 2017, followed by a European Championship silver in 2018 and a silver medal at the Mediterranean Games. In 2019, he secured the bronze medal at the pre-Olympic World Championships in Tokyo.

Olympic Participation

Majdov has represented his country at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Unfortunately, his performance in Paris was cut short in the 1/8 finals due to a controversial disqualification resulting from three yellow cards.

Political Involvement

Beyond his sporting accomplishments, Majdov has also ventured into politics. In 2022, he ran for office in Serbia as an independent candidate in the "Aleksandar Vučić – Serbia Must Not Stop" coalition.

Pre-Olympic Silver and Olympic Disqualification

In spring 2024, Majdov secured the silver medal at the pre-Olympic World Championships in the United Arab Emirates. However, his hopes for Olympic glory were dashed in Paris when he was disqualified for expressing frustration with the judges' decisions on social media. This resulted in a five-month suspension.
