Nestor Kondratyuk: A Renowned Ukrainian Actor

Early Life and Deportation

Nestor Pavlovich Kondratyuk was born on April 5, 1937, in the village of Ludwinów in Poland. During Operation Vistula in 1945, his family was deported to the village of Zalesia near Kamianets-Podilskyi. Amidst the ensuing famine, they relocated to Volyn to live with deported relatives.

Cultural Education and Army Service

From 1952 to 1955, Kondratyuk studied at a cultural education college in Kiversy, Volyn Oblast. After graduating, he worked as a club work methodologist in Kiversy. In 1956, he was conscripted into the Soviet Army and stationed in Vinnytsia. His active involvement in the House of Officers' artistic activities led him to become a ballet dancer.

Training and Early Career

After completing his military service, Kondratyuk was selected to join the Vinnytsia Theater. From 1961 to 1965, he studied acting at the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv Institute of Theatrical Arts. Upon graduation, he spent a year with the Odessa October Revolution Theater before joining the Vinnytsia Music and Drama Theater named after N. Sadovsky in 1966.

Recognition and Awards

Kondratyuk received the title of Meritorious Artist of Ukraine in 1974 and the esteemed title of People's Artist of Ukraine in 1981. In 2008, he was awarded the Order of Merit, III degree, by President Viktor Yushchenko for his significant contributions to Ukrainian culture.

Personal Life

Kondratyuk married ballet soloist Margarita Galazha in 1961. They had a son, Maksym, in 1962, who became a television journalist, and a daughter, Kateryna, in 1968. Margarita passed away in 2005.

Nestor Kondratyuk is a leading actor at the Vinnytsia Theater named after N. Sadovsky, where he has played over 200 roles. He is renowned for his performances in various productions, including:
