Portuguese Motor Racing Legend
Early Career: From Karting to Formula FordTiago Monteiro's racing journey began in karting from 1980 to 1982. He then transitioned to rallying in 1981-1982 before moving to Formula Ford in 1983-1984.
Success in Touring Car Championships
Monteiro made his mark in touring car championships, securing impressive results in the Portuguese Touring Car Championship. He claimed the championship title in 1989, 1990, and 1993, while finishing as runner-up in 1988, 1991, and 1994.
International Breakthrough: DTM and FIA GT
In 1995, Monteiro ventured into the prestigious German Touring Car Championship (DTM) and the World Touring Car Championship. He later achieved success in the FIA GT Championship, notably finishing 6th in the GT2 class in 1997.
Consistency in FIA GT
Monteiro maintained a steady presence in FIA GT, competing consistently from 1997 to 2003. Despite not securing a championship title, he finished in the top 12 in several seasons.
