Biography of Nicola Burley
Nicola Anne Burley, an English actress, is well-known for her roles in films and television series such as "Born Equal" (2006), "Drop Dead Gorgeous" (2006-2007), "Goldplated," "Donkey Punch" (2008), and "Street Dance 3D" (2010). She has already accumulated 24 film and television roles throughout her young acting career.
Early Life
Nicola Anne Burley was born in 1986 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. She attended Intake High School in Bramley, a district in the west of Leeds. She also studied at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and was a student at the Walton School of Theatre Dance for five years.
Acting Career
Burley's acting career began in 2005 when she played Michelle in Dominic Savage's drama "Love + Hate" and made a brief appearance in the television series "The Ghost Squad." In February of the following year, she was offered a small role in the long-running comedy project "Shameless" on Channel 4. Later that year, she appeared in the drama "Goldplated," where she had a much more significant role. Unfortunately, the second season of the series was not produced due to low ratings.
In November 2006, Nicola received numerous positive reviews for her role as Zoe in the social television drama "Born Equal," starring Colin Firth and Emilia Fox. The film explored the theme of social inequality in contemporary Great Britain and garnered attention from film critics, thanks in part to its excellent cast, which included Robert Carlyle and Anne-Marie Duff. To prepare for her role, Nicola met with her peers who had fled their parental homes for various reasons in London.
She also appeared as Cathy McAleer in the BBC Three series "Drop Dead Gorgeous" in 2006 and 2007. In 2010, Burley played the central character Carly in the dance film "Street Dance 3D," which also featured street dancer George Sampson and street dance groups "Diversity" and "Flawless." In the 2011 adaptation of "Wuthering Heights," Nicola portrayed Isabella Linton.
In April 2011, the BBC series "Candy Cabs" featuring Burley began airing, and she also made an appearance in an episode of the crime drama "Lewis" on ITV 1. On the theatrical stage, Nicola played the lead role in the play "Bollywood Jane" at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds and Constanza in a Sheffield revival of Peter Schaffer's "Amadeus."
