Nicolás Bertolo: Argentinian Midfielder
Early CareerNicolás Bertolo began his football journey at Instituto Central Córdoba before joining Boca Juniors at the tender age of 13. He made his professional debut with the "Xeneizes" in 2006, contributing to their match victory against Vélez Sarsfield.
Youth and Loan Spells
Alongside his commitments to Boca Juniors, Bertolo played for their youth squad and lifted the Copa Libertadores Juvenil in 2007. He also underwent trials at Italian club Piacenza, but they ultimately decided against signing him. In 2008, Bertolo moved on loan to Uruguayan side Nacional, where his impressive performances earned him the title of Best Player in the Uruguayan Championship.
Banfield Success
After his return to Boca Juniors, Bertolo was transferred to Banfield for a fee of €320,000 (50% rights). His standout showings with Banfield earned him the distinction of Best Midfielder in the 2008 Apertura tournament. He scored his first goal for the club in February 2009, contributing to their 3-1 victory over Rosario Central. Banfield later acquired the remaining 50% of his rights for $750,000.
Palermo and Zaragoza
In July 2009, Bertolo made a move to Italian club Palermo for a substantial €4 million. He played his debut match in the Coppa Italia, replacing Antonio Nocerino in a 4-2 win over SPAL. Eight days later, he featured in his first Serie A encounter, coming on as a substitute against Napoli. The following year, Bertolo spent a season on loan with Real Zaragoza in the Spanish La Liga.
