Nikkie Kerameus: A Trailblazing Greek Politician and Legal Scholar
Early Life and EducationNikkie Kerameus was born on July 18, 1980, in Thessaloniki, Greece. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Panthéon-Assas in Paris, where she excelled in law. Kerameus further honed her legal knowledge by obtaining a Master of Laws degree in arbitration law from Harvard Law School.
Legal Career
Prior to entering politics, Kerameus established a distinguished legal career. She worked as an assistant professor at the University of Panthéon-Assas, where she shared her expertise in law with undergraduate students. She also practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, a prominent New York City-based law firm. Upon returning to Greece in 2007, she became a practicing attorney and is a member of both the New York State Bar and the Athens Bar Association. She is also a partner in the Athens-based law firm Kerameus & Partners.
Political Journey
Kerameus entered the political arena in 2015 when she was elected as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament for the New Democracy party. She was re-elected in 2015 and 2019. On July 8, 2019, she was appointed Minister of Education and Religious Affairs in the Mitsotakis government, a position she currently holds.

As Minister of Education, Kerameus has implemented significant reforms aimed at improving the quality of education in Greece. She has introduced new curricula, increased teacher support, and invested in modernizing educational infrastructure. Kerameus is married and has two children. She is known for her charitable work, having provided pro bono legal services to homeless New Yorkers. She has received several awards for her philanthropic efforts.
