Early Life and Family

María Corina Machado was born on October 7, 1967, in Caracas, Venezuela. She is the eldest of four daughters born to Enrique Machado Zuloaga, a businessman, and Corina Parisca Pérez, a psychologist. Machado was raised in a Catholic family and attended private schools in Venezuela. She later studied at boarding schools in the United States and traveled extensively throughout Europe.

Political Career

In 1992, Machado founded the Atenea Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to assisting orphans and street children in Caracas. In 2011, she was elected to the Venezuelan National Assembly. During her time in office, she became a prominent opposition leader and an outspoken critic of the socialist government of Nicolás Maduro.

In 2012, Machado ran for President of Venezuela. Although she lost the election, she gained significant support and emerged as a leading figure in the democratic movement.
