Biography of Niklas Alexandersson
Niklas Alexandersson is a Swedish football player who primarily plays as a midfielder. He started his career in his hometown club, Vessigebro BK. Alexandersson participated in the 1992 Olympics as a member of the Swedish national team.
Club Career
From 1988 to 1995, he played for Halmstad before transferring to IFK Gothenburg. With IFK Gothenburg, he won the Swedish championship and competed in the UEFA Champions League. In 1997, he was purchased by Sheffield Wednesday for £750,000. Alexandersson quickly became a fan favorite at the club and was awarded the best player of the season prize in 2000. However, after the team was relegated to the first division, he was sold to Everton for £2.5 million. He also played for Everton for three seasons before a short period at West Ham United. Eventually, he returned to play for IFK Gothenburg, where he currently plays alongside his younger brother, Daniel.
International Career
Alexandersson represented Sweden in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. He made his debut for the senior Swedish national team in 1993, playing against Austria on November 10. He was also a participant in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups as well as the UEFA European Championships in 2000 and 2004.
