Niklas Andersen: A Journeyman Defender

Niklas Andersen, born in 1988 to Norwegian footballer Jörn Andersen in Frankfurt, Germany, is a German defender currently playing for FC Felbert. Throughout his childhood, he resided in various cities due to his father's coaching and playing career. In 2003, the family settled in the Ruhr region after Jörn became the head coach of Rot-Weiss Essen.

Club Career

Andersen began his footballing journey as a defender in the youth teams of Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt, and FC Schalke 04. He moved to Rot-Weiss Essen's youth academy in 2005 and made his senior debut for the club in the 2007/08 season, playing 26 Regionalliga matches.

In 2008, Andersen joined Werder Bremen on loan, signing a contract until June 30, 2012. He led the second team, which competed in the third division. His sole Bundesliga appearance came on May 13, 2009, when he replaced Frank Baumann in the 5:0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Andersen moved to Chemnitzer FC in 2012 before spending two years with Wattenscheid 09. In July 2014, he joined Felbert, where he remains to this day.

International Career

Between December 2007 and February 2008, Andersen represented the Germany U-20 national team in two matches.
