Early Career and Influences

Darko Vujačić is a Montenegrin professional footballer who plays as a defender for Polish club Lech Poznań. Born in Cetinje, Montenegro, he holds a Bulgarian passport, which allows him to not be considered a foreign player in EU countries.

Vujačić was a product of the Red Star Belgrade youth academy and made his professional debut for Rad in the Serbian and Montenegrin championship. He later played for FK Zeta before attracting interest from abroad.

Near-Misses in England

In 2005, Vujačić spent a 10-day trial with Arsenal but was not offered a contract. He also came close to joining West Bromwich Albion in the 2006/07 season, but his application for a work permit was denied.

CSKA Sofia and Italian Venture

In 2007, Vujačić moved to CSKA Sofia as a free agent. The tall, young defender quickly established himself in the starting lineup and was considered one of the most promising players in the Bulgarian league.

Udinese and Loans Away

His performances caught the attention of Udinese, and on August 8, 2008, Vujačić became a player for the Italian club. In September 2009, he was loaned out to Romanian side Unirea Urziceni and later to Scottish club Aberdeen.
