Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a Danish actor, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on July 27, 1970, in the small Danish village of Rudkobing. His parents later moved to Copenhagen, where he spent his childhood and youth. In his teenage years, Coster-Waldau was involved in athletics and achieved excellent results. Despite his success in sports, he secretly dreamed of an acting career.

In his senior years of high school, Coster-Waldau began preparing for admission to the Copenhagen Theatre School. In 1989, he became a student at the school and graduated with an acting diploma in 1993. During his student years, he performed in the Betty Nansen Theatre and became one of the leading actors in the troupe.

Breakthrough in Film

After completing his theater education, Coster-Waldau intended to pursue a career in the theater.
