Education and Early Career
Alexander Smolin was born in the Soviet Union. In 1959, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Moscow State University. In 1967, he completed his postgraduate studies at the same institution.
Academic Career
From 1960 to 1964, Smolin worked as an assistant and then a senior lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Omsk Agricultural Institute. From 1968 to 1991, he served as an associate professor and then a professor at the Institute of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU).
In 1991, Smolin became a professor in the Department of Philosophy and Culture at the Republican Institute for Advanced Studies of Education Workers. In 1993, he transitioned into government service.
Government Service
Smolin held various positions in the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Nationality and Regional Policy. From 1995 to 1997, he worked in the Ministry for Cooperation with Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Return to Academia
In 1997, Smolin returned to academia as a professor in the Department of Philosophy at the State University of Management.
Academic Contributions
Smolin's research focused on Russian religious philosophy and Eurasianism. His dissertation topics included:
- "Criticism of Attempts to Justify Religion in the Philosophy of Universal Unity" (1968)
- "Philosophy of Neo-Orthodoxy: A Critical Analysis of Sophiology" (1989)
Smolin published numerous articles and monographs, including:
- "Philosophy of God-Seeking: A Critique of the Religious and Philosophical Ideas of Sophiology" (1986)
