Childhood and Youth
Novak Djokovic's biography began on May 22, 1987, in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia. Born under the zodiac sign of Gemini, Djokovic attributes his success to his parents, Diana and Srdjan, who constantly supported his athletic endeavors. Djokovic was the first in his family to dedicate himself to tennis, while his father excelled in football and was a professional pilot. Djokovic picked up his first racket when he was four years old and caught the attention of renowned Serbian tennis player Jelena Gencic when he was six. Gencic, who trained Djokovic until 1999, saw his potential and spent a lot of time teaching him the basics of tennis. Djokovic often compares his first coach to a second mother.

When Djokovic was 11 years old, NATO started bombing Belgrade. He celebrated his 12th birthday in a bomb shelter. Despite the chaos around him, Djokovic tries to remember that time with positivity and light. He recalls that children were not allowed to go to school, so he had more time to focus on tennis. However, the war cost him 76 sleepless nights spent in the basement, experiencing fear. His coach Jelena Gencic continued to train him during that time, ensuring they found safe courts to practice on. Every night, they would choose a new location to avoid bombings, so Djokovic could train without fear. After Gencic, Djokovic was trained by former Croatian tennis player Nikola Pilic at the Pilic Tennis Academy in Germany, where he spent four years.

Tennis

Djokovic is known for his unique playing style, being a versatile player who excels on all court surfaces, including grass, hard court, carpet, and clay. His backhand, executed with great speed and precision, is considered one of the best in the world.
Despite his exceptional skills on the court, Djokovic has weaknesses as well, particularly in terms of physical endurance. Sometimes, he lacks the stamina to make the final push for victory, especially in long matches. However, in 2015, Djokovic had an incredibly successful year, winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon, the US Open, and reaching the finals of all Grand Slam tournaments.
Personal Life
In 2006, Djokovic began dating Jelena Ristic, whom he considers the love of his life. They got married in 2014 and have two children together, a son named Stefan and a daughter named Tara. Djokovic is a religious person, practicing Orthodox Christianity, and he actively supports the restoration of ancient churches. For his philanthropic efforts, he received the Order of St. Sava, first degree.
