Lineage and Claim to the Throne
Nugazar Bagration-Gruzinsky is a direct descendant in the male line of the last Georgian king, George XII. As such, he lays claim to the Georgian throne and is recognized as the head of the Bagrationi dynasty by a faction of Georgian monarchists.
Family Background
Nugazar is the son of the poet Pyotr Petrovich Bagration-Gruzinsky (1920-1984), and his second wife, Lia Dmitrievna Mgheladze (born 1924).
Assertion of Leadership
In 2006, Nugazar declared his leadership of the Bagrationi dynasty. His claim is supported by prominent Georgian historians, including academics David Muskhelishvili and Mariam Lordkipanidze, as well as Prince Yuri Chikovani, Chairman of the Georgian Genealogical Society, and Prince Konstantin (Kote) Cholokashvili, leader of the Georgian Noblemen's Assembly.
Titles and Office
Nugazar holds the title of His Imperial and Royal Highness Crown Prince and Serene Prince Nugazar Bagration-Gruzinsky. He operates his own chancery and is also the director of the Actors' Cinema Theatre in Tbilisi.

Nugazar married Princess Lela Giorgievna Kipiani on February 10, 1971. They have two daughters:
