A Comprehensive Biography of Azat Peruashev
Early Life and EducationAzat Peruashev was born on October 10, 1959, in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. He obtained his bachelor's degree in mathematical engineering from the Moscow Economic-Statistical Institute in 1981 and later earned his Ph.D. in 1989 from the same institution, specializing in the design of information systems.
Early Career
In 1981, Peruashev began his career as a junior research associate at the State Planning Committee of the Kazakh SSR. From 1987 to 1990, he held the position of department head at the Research Institute of Automated Control Systems under the State Planning Committee.
Government Service
In 1992, Peruashev served as an advisor and later deputy head of the South Kazakhstan regional administration, where he also chaired the regional committee on state property. From 1996 to 1997, he headed the South Kazakhstan regional branch of the National Bank.
Banking and Corporate Sector
From 1997 to 1998, Peruashev worked as deputy chairman of Bank TuranAlem. He then served as deputy governor of the Kostanay region and later as governor of the city of Kostanay. Subsequently, he held various executive positions in the energy sector, including vice president of commercial and marketing at KazTransGas and general director of Intergas Central Asia.
Political Career
In 2003, Peruashev was appointed First Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. From 2003 to 2007, he served as governor of the West Kazakhstan region. From 2007 to 2009, he was governor of the South Kazakhstan region.
Minister of Environmental Protection
On March 4, 2009, Peruashev was appointed Minister of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a position he held until 2016.
