Early Life and Family

Nyjah Huston was born on November 30, 1994, in Davis, California, USA. He is the son of Adeyemi Huston, a former skateboarder, and Kelly Huston. He has three brothers and a sister. Nyjah grew up in a strict Rastafarian household, where his father instilled in him a strong work ethic and discipline. The family followed vegan principles and homeschooled their children.

Skateboarding Beginnings

Nyjah's father introduced him to skateboarding at the age of five. He demonstrated exceptional talent at a young age and quickly gained the attention of sponsors. In 2004, the family acquired an indoor skatepark in Woodland, California, where Nyjah honed his skills.

Move to Puerto Rico and Family Split

In 2006, Nyjah's father abruptly moved the family to Puerto Rico. This relocation negatively impacted Nyjah's relationship with his sponsors, particularly Element Skateboards, as Puerto Rico's distance from California made it difficult for him to participate in events and demos. Soon after the move, Nyjah's parents divorced. Nyjah remained with his father, who continued to manage his skateboarding career.

Return to California and Reignition of Family Ties

Nyjah spent a year separated from his mother and siblings in Puerto Rico. However, his mother, Kelly Huston, eventually gained full custody of the children through court proceedings. Nyjah reunited with his family in California and rekindled his relationships with them.

Professional Success and Recognition

Nyjah Huston quickly ascended to the top of professional skateboarding. He has won six Street League Skateboarding (SLS) World Championships in the "Street" discipline, making him one of the most decorated and highest-paid professional skateboarders in the world.

Personal Life

As of December 2019, Nyjah Huston resides in his own home in Laguna Beach, California.
