Octavia Lenora Spencer was born in 1972 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the sixth of seven children in her family, and from a young age, she showed talent in acting and performing arts. Spencer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University in Alabama.

Early Career

Spencer made her film debut in 1996 with a minor role in "A Time to Kill." Her screen career continued to grow steadily, appearing in numerous TV shows and films, although she did not land any major roles. Some of her notable works include "Wizards of Waverly Place," "Raising the Bar," "Ugly Betty," "NYPD Blue," "ER," "Just Shoot Me!," "Medium," and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
