He examines the actions of special forces, urban warfare, armored vehicles and artillery, engineers, mercenaries, and peacekeepers, as well as the military theories of the opposing sides.
In "The Yugoslav War," Valetsky criticizes the leadership of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) for its rigid thinking, bureaucracy, and poor coordination with Serbian forces in other parts of Yugoslavia. He also discusses the internal and external political aspects of the war and the role of nationalism.
Controversies
Valetsky's writings have elicited controversy due to his critical stance on the Yugoslav authorities and the role of the JNA in the conflict. Nonetheless, his works are valued for their detailed analysis and insight into the complex realities of modern warfare.
