Early Life and Family
Olga Leonidnova Lerman was born in Baku, Azerbaijan on March 25, 1988, to parents in the theater industry. Her mother, Victoria, worked as an assistant director at the State Russian Drama Theater named after S. Vurgun in Azerbaijan. Olga's biological father is not mentioned in her biography. Olga was raised by Fuad Osmanov, Victoria Lerman's second husband and a theater colleague. Osmanov was an actor at the same theater.
From a young age, Lerman performed on stage in children's plays. Despite her theatrical background, her aspirations lay in the world of ballet. She enrolled at the Baku Choreographic School and, upon the family's relocation to Krasnodar, continued her dance training at the local choreographic school.
Education and Early Career
After graduating from the choreographic school, Lerman planned to pursue acting. She passed the entrance examination at the Boris Shchukin Theater Institute under the guidance of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Yuri Borisovoch Nifontov. While still a third-year student, she began working at the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire. In 2011, Lerman graduated from the institute and joined the State Academic Theater named after E. B. Vakhtangov in Moscow.
Theater Success
Upon joining the theater, Olga landed the lead role in "Anna Karenina," based on Leo Tolstoy's novel. Her theatrical career skyrocketed as she went on to play the leading role of Tatyana in Alexander Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin." For this performance, she was nominated for Best Actress. Lerman has consistently praised the supportive atmosphere in the theater, emphasizing the absence of workplace politics.
Lerman has performed six roles in the theater: Anna in "Anna Karenina," Arletta in "The Unrehearsed Comedy," the Townswoman in M. Staritsky's "For Two Hares," Mein blondes Baby in the choreographic production "Coast of Women" based on Marlene Dietrich's music, Tatyana in "Eugene Onegin," and Desdemona in Shakespeare's "Othello."
Film and Television
Olga Lerman made her on-screen debut after graduating from the theater institute. In 2011, she played the lead role in Alexei Karelin's melodrama "A Game of Bridge." The same year, she appeared in the television series "Love and Other Nonsense."
Lerman gained wider recognition in 2011 with her portrayal of Alexandra in the comedy-melodrama miniseries "The Handsome." In 2013, she received her second significant leading role as Maya in Eduard Parry's crime drama "The Gambler."
Her other film and television credits include: "Protocol" (2012), "In the Theater" (2012), "Lonely on Contract" (2014), "Wonderland" (2015), "Joint Destinies" (2015), "Men and Women" (2015), "The House at the Edge of the Forest" (2016), "The Ark" (2017), "The Red River" (2017), and "I Am Alive" (release date unknown).
Personal Life
Olga Lerman keeps her private life out of the public eye. Rumors of a relationship with "The Gambler" co-star Anton Feoktistov were denied by the actress, who emphasized Feoktistov's married status.
In interviews, Lerman has stated that she is in a committed relationship. While she does not plan to get married or have children in the near future, she has expressed a desire to enroll her future daughter in dance classes.
Lerman maintains a strict separation between her professional and personal life. Despite appearing in nude scenes in "The Handsome," such moments do not impact her real-life relationship.
Current Projects and Future Plans
2017 has been a busy year for Lerman, with roles in three projects. She recently premiered in Alexander Kott's "The Ark" and Igor Bagaturiya's "The Red River."
Lerman prioritizes quality over quantity and avoids taking on low-quality television series for financial reasons. She chooses projects that resonate with her creatively and allow her to showcase her versatility as an actress.
