Biography of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Born on Friday, June 13, 1986, in Los Angeles, Mary-Kate and Ashley Fuller Olsen are twin actresses. Mary-Kate is two minutes younger than Ashley and is left-handed, while Ashley is right-handed. They have an older brother named Trent and a younger sister named Elizabeth (Lizzy). Their parents, Jarnette (Jarni) and David Olsen, got divorced in March 1995. Later, David remarried McKenzie Taylor, and they had a son and a daughter, who are half-siblings to Mary-Kate and Ashley. Currently, the twins live with their mother in Southern California.

Early Success
When the sisters were just 9 months old, they were chosen to play the role of Michelle Tanner in the sitcom "Full House" on ABC. Their popularity skyrocketed, and they became household names. Only Bill Cosby had slightly higher ratings than the twins. In 1991, David Olsen fired their manager and hired his friend, Robert Thorne. Thorne founded the company Dualstar Entertainment Group, of which Mary-Kate and Ashley became the youngest producers in Hollywood history. In the same year, their video and CD titled "Brother for Sale" and "I'm the Cute One" were released and achieved gold record status.
Acting Career
The first 90 minutes of the film "To Grandmother's House We Go," starring the Olsen twins, were aired on ABC on Christmas 1992. In 1993, the twins launched their detective series "The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley," which led to the film "The Case of the Sea World Adventure" based on the series. In the same year, they released another film for Halloween called "Double, Double, Toil & Trouble." They also released their first video, simply titled "Our First Video," which consisted of seven music videos.
In 1994, they starred in films such as "How the West Was Fun" and "Little Rascals." However, in 1995, their parents' divorce and the cancellation of "Full House" led critics to believe that their careers were over. Nevertheless, their company Dualstar proved them wrong. They released a new series called "You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's Sleepover Party" and a feature film called "It Takes Two," which gained immense popularity on video.
Continued Success
In 1996 and 1997, the twins released several interviews, videos, CDs, and books. However, their significant breakthrough came in 1998 with the release of the series "Two of a Kind" on ABC. Despite their age, being 12 years old when the series started, the twins' popularity continued to soar. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after one season due to budget constraints. Nevertheless, Mary-Kate and Ashley didn't let this setback stop them.
In 1999, they starred in films such as "Switching Goals," "Passport to Paris" (filmed in France), and "Our Lips Are Sealed" (filmed in Australia). They also ventured into writing books, with their most successful being "The New Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley," which are still being written today. Additionally, they have published their memoirs. Mary-Kate developed an interest in horse racing, while Ashley decided to pursue directing.
Currently, the twins are starring in a television series called "So Little Time." They continue to write books and explore new career paths, with Mary-Kate's passion for horse racing and Ashley's interest in directing.
