Genesis of Open Kids: A New Dawn in Pop Music
In 2012, Open Art Studio, a renowned Kyiv art school, launched a captivating project that would forever alter the landscape of pop music: Open Kids. Five effervescent vocalists emerged, captivating audiences with their infectious smiles, unwavering work ethic, and ethereal vocals.
Building the Band: The Heart and Soul of Open Kids
Each member of Open Kids forged their artistic path at Open Art Studio. Hailing from across Ukraine, the girls found a nurturing space within the academy's walls, honing their talents under the guidance of expert instructors.
The initial lineup consisted of Angelina Romanovskaya, Valeria Didkovskaya, Yulia Hamaliy, Anna Bobrovskaya, and Anna Muzafarova. Each possessed exceptional vocal and physical abilities, making them a formidable collective.
A Serendipitous Beginning: The Genesis of the Project
In an interview, the girls reminisced about the serendipitous birth of Open Kids. Teachers had long observed their remarkable progress within Open Art Studio and eventually proposed a bold new venture. The brains behind the project were Yuri Petrov and Evgeny Milkovsky, lead singer of the band "Nervy."
Evolution and Transformation: Welcoming a New Member
After an extensive audition process, Anna Muzafarova joined Open Kids in 2016. Unlike her bandmates, Anna hailed from Chelyabinsk, Russia. From a young age, she yearned to grace the stage. Having studied piano since childhood, she had a strong foundation in music and even dabbled in songwriting.
The Youngest Star: Yulia Hamaliy
Yulia Hamaliy, the youngest member of Open Kids, dreamed of an artistic life from the start. A talented artist, she admired Michael Jackson and loved to dance. Despite her demanding schedule with Open Kids, she excelled in her studies.
The Prodigious Valeria Didkovskaya
Valeria Didkovskaya emerged as the group's resident musical prodigy. Not only did she play the drums, but she also penned verses for Open Kids' songs.
Friendship and Fame: The Bond That Binds
Anna Bobrovskaya and Angelina Romanovskaya, like their fellow bandmates, balanced their academic pursuits with their artistic endeavors. Both were passionate about choreography and shared a dream of global stardom.
The girls recall that before the formation of the group, they had little inkling of the unbreakable bonds they would form. Rehearsals at Open Art Studio had been conducted in a rather detached manner.
Musical Journey: A Tapestry of Songs, Collaborations, and Success
Open Kids officially debuted on November 11, 2012, with the release of their music video for "Show Girls," written by Regina Todorenko and Lina Mitsuki. Shortly thereafter, the group made their public debut on the television show "Tantsyut vse. Vozvrashchenie geroev" ("Everybody Dance! Return of the Heroes").
In 2012, they collaborated with Ukrainian band The Maneken on their single "Stop," marking their first foray into the world of established artists. Open Kids also made guest appearances at The Maneken's concert to promote their new album, "Portrait."
Collaborations with other stars followed, including a 2013 track with Monatik, "Vazhno" ("Important"). As with much of Open Kids' repertoire, the song conveyed a message of positivity and hope. Monatik continued to work with the young talents, penning "Na Radostiakh" ("On the Joys") for them in 2015.
2016 saw Open Kids team up with Quest Pistols Show for the release of "Kruche Vsekh" ("Cooler Than All"), a captivating video that dominated music television charts and earned a nomination for Best Dance Video at the RU.TV Awards.
Recent Successes and Ongoing Legacy
The group continued to grow in popularity, winning the "Teenage Project of the Year" award at the Real MusicBox Awards in 2016 and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in 2017. They have also been honored with RU.TV awards.
Today, Open Kids remains a formidable force in the music industry. They continue to perform at concerts, write songs, and connect with their loyal fanbase. The girls are active on social media, particularly Instagram, where fans can catch glimpses into their lives.
Their unwavering dedication and professionalism have paved the way for Open Kids to achieve remarkable milestones. The past six years have witnessed their rise to stardom, with numerous nominations and awards to their credit.
