Early Life and Amateur Career
Orzubek Puletovich Nazarov was born on August 30, 1966, in Kant, Kyrgyzstan. From an early age, he displayed an exceptional talent for boxing.
As a junior, Nazarov dominated the Soviet boxing scene, winning the USSR Junior Championship from 1982 to 1984. He went on to claim the European Junior Championship in 1984 and the USSR Championship from 1985 to 1988. In 1986, he triumphed in the Goodwill Games, a prestigious international tournament.
Professional Success
In 1989, Nazarov turned professional and quickly established himself as one of the world's top boxers. He became the WBA World Champion seven times, a record that stands to this day. Additionally, he captured five Japanese professional titles and six Asian and Oceanic championships.
Nazarov's professional record is impressive: 27 fights, 26 wins (20 by knockout), and just one defeat. His exceptional skills and determination made him a formidable opponent in the ring.
Legacy and Recognition
Nazarov's achievements have been widely recognized. He has been awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and Kyrgyzstan. In 1995, he was honored with a commemorative coin for his contributions to sports. In 1997, he received the "Dank" medal from the Kyrgyz Republic.
Beyond his boxing career, Nazarov is actively involved in the Olympic movement and serves as the President of the International Fund for the Support of the Olympic Movement. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the International Fund "Eternal Heritage."
