Marcos Maidana is an Argentine professional boxer who competes in the welterweight division. He is currently the champion in his weight category according to the World Boxing Association (WBA).

Early Life and Career

Maidana was born in José León Suárez, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Throughout his professional career, he has only lost two fights, both against Andreas Kotelnik and Amir Khan, with both defeats being decided by the judges' decision.

The Battle with Kotelnik

In his first defeat against Andreas Kotelnik, Maidana clearly dominated the majority of the fight, evident by his visibly battered face. However, the judges ultimately declared Kotelnik the winner, causing doubts among the audience regarding their impartiality.

First American Fight and Victory

Maidana's first American fight took place on June 27, 2009, against Mexican boxer Victor Ortiz. Despite being knocked down three times in the first two rounds, Maidana managed to rally and secure a victory, earning him the title of the WBA's best fighter in the welterweight division.

Postponed Fights and Controversies
