Early Life and Football Beginnings
Born in Nicaragua, Óscar Duarte moved to Costa Rica at a young age, where he began his football journey. At the age of 19, he joined Costa Rican powerhouse Deportivo Saprissa.
Domestic Success with Deportivo Saprissa
Duarte spent five seasons with Saprissa, establishing himself as a key defender. During his tenure, the club achieved significant domestic success, winning the Costa Rican Primera División Apertura in 2008/09 and the Clausura in 2009/10.
European Journey: Club Brugge
In 2013, Duarte made the move to Europe, signing for Belgian club Club Brugge. He has remained with the club ever since, becoming a mainstay in their defense.
International Career
Duarte made his international debut for Costa Rica in 2010. He has since become a regular member of the national team, representing his country in major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
