Oscar Gonzalez: A Tragic Boxing Career
Oscar Gonzalez, also known as Fantasma, was a Mexican boxer whose name made headlines in early February 2014. Unfortunately, after losing a fight against Jesus Galicia, he was hospitalized in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Gonzalez was disconnected from life support on February 3rd and passed away.

Early Life and Career
Oscar Gonzalez was born in 1990 in the Mexican city of Tepic. He started his professional boxing career in March 2007 and quickly gained recognition by winning the WBC Youth World Super Bantamweight championship. He went on to claim the WBC (USNBC) Super Bantamweight title, and his career reached its peak with 23 victories, 4 losses, and 14 knockouts.

Notable Victories
Throughout his career, Gonzalez defeated renowned boxers such as Rico Ramos, Raul Hirales, Giovanni Caro, Adrian Young, Hector Velazquez, Caril Herrera, Manuel Aguilar, and Carlos Fulgencio.
The Tragic End
On February 1st, 2014, during his fight against Jesus Galicia, Gonzalez was knocked out in the 10th round. Witnesses describe the bout as "rough," and at one point in the 10th round, Gonzalez stumbled in his corner after receiving a powerful blow. The referee briefly supported him, but he eventually lost consciousness and collapsed in the ring. Despite attempted resuscitation efforts, Gonzalez was rushed to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage. After 36 hours in the hospital, the decision was made to disconnect him from life support. Oscar Gonzalez was declared deceased on February 3rd, 2014.
Legacy and Funeral
Gonzalez's body was transported to his hometown of Tepic, Mexico, where his funeral and cremation took place. The World Boxing Council, which sanctioned the fight, provided the Gonzalez family with compensation of approximately $50,000. Oscar is survived by his wife, Magaly Avalos, as well as his parents, siblings, and other relatives.
