Early Life

Oscar Isaac was born in Guatemala to a Cuban father named Oscar Gonzalo Hernández-Cano, who worked as a pulmonologist, and a Guatemalan mother named Maria Eugenia Estrada Nicole. He also has French and other European roots. Shortly after his birth, his parents moved to the United States and settled in Miami, Florida. Oscar was raised in a religious evangelical household. He attended a private school where he had behavioral issues due to his love for entertaining his friends and classmates with his antics, sometimes crossing the line of what was allowed. In his later high school years, he was expelled. As a teenager, he learned to play the guitar and formed his own rock band, "The Blinking Underdogs," in which he served as the frontman, vocalist, and lead guitarist. The ska-punk band gained popularity and performed in various Miami clubs, even opening for the famous band "Green Day." However, the band disbanded after Oscar made the decision to pursue acting and enrolled in the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. He studied there until 2005, also attending master classes. Despite his focus on acting, Oscar Isaac remains passionate about music and later formed his own band, "NightLab." Additionally, he frequently participates in mixed concerts, including performances with Guatemalan star Gaby Moreno and Canadian musician Alan Doyle.
