Osman Hussein is a Sudanese politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Sudan since January 19, 2022.
Acting Prime Minister (2022)
Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister, Hussein held the position of Acting Prime Minister of Sudan from January 19, 2022, following the resignation of Abdalla Hamdok on January 2, 2022. Hamdok had stepped down due to his inability to quell ongoing protests and establish a civilian government.
Prime Minister (2022-Present)
Osman was appointed Prime Minister on January 19, 2022, by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the de facto head of state. Hussein replaced Abdalla Hamdok, who had resigned after facing persistent protests since 2019.
Background
Before assuming his current role, Hussein served as the Secretary-General of the Prime Minister's Office in the Sudanese government from March 13, 2019, to January 19, 2022.
