Valon Behrami: A Swiss Football Star
Early Life and CareerValon Behrami was born into an ethnic Albanian family in Switzerland and began his football career with FC Winterthur in 2003. He played for a brief period with Liverpool FC's youth academy before moving to Lazio in 2009 at the age of 16.
Rise to Prominence
With Lazio, Behrami made a strong impression and earned a call-up to the Swiss U-17 team. He played a pivotal role in Switzerland's triumph at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Return to Switzerland and Palermo
In December 2009, Behrami returned to Switzerland and signed a contract with Bellinzona until 2011. His exceptional performances caught the attention of Palermo, who signed him on a five-year contract in June 2010.
Success with Olympiacos and Switzerland
Behrami enjoyed great success during his time with Olympiacos, winning the Greek Super League title twice (2014/15, 2015/16) and the Greek Cup in 2014/15. On the international stage, he was a member of the Swiss team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2009.
