There were thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of girls who idolized their rock stars. But not all of them became groupies.

'The GTOs': A Brief Music Career

At the initiative of Frank Zappa (by the way, the diva worked for him as a servant and nanny for a long time), Pamela and a few of her loyal muse friends formed a band called 'The GTOs'. Of course, the girls did not achieve anything significant in music, but they gained some degree of fame within their circle. From then on, they were commonly referred to as "Miss So-and-so". Miss Pamela was the last member to join the quickly disbanding project, directed and produced by Zappa. The only result of their collaboration was the album 'Permanent Damage', released in 1969. A month later, 'The GTOs' disbanded.

Life after 'The GTOs'

In the 1970s, Pamela tried to stay in the limelight by venturing into the film industry. However, apart from participating in Zappa's musical project '200 Motels' and a few minor screen appearances, her acting career did not take off. On the other hand, her memoirs, which were published in 1987 under the title 'I'm with the Band', became a huge success. In 1993, Pamela released 'Take Another Little Piece of My Heart: A Groupie Grows Up', followed by 'Rock Bottom: Dark Moments in Music Babylon' and 'Let's Spend the Night Together: Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Supergroupies', with the latter being published in 2007.

Personal Life and Marriage

In October 1977, Pamela married Michael Des Barres, and although none of her idols became her husband, Michael was a musician himself, serving as the vocalist for the rock band 'Detective'. The marriage lasted until 1991, ending due to Michael's alleged infidelity.
