Paola Gianotti: The Italian Cyclist Planning a 145-Day Bike Journey

Paola Gianotti, an Italian cyclist, is planning to embark on a major global cycling tour on March 8, 2014. Her plan is to cover a distance of 29,000 kilometers, crossing four continents, in a journey that will last 145 days. Gianotti, 32 years old, resides in Italy and will start her epic bike ride from the city of Ivrea. She was inspired by Greek cyclist Juliana Bhuring, who became the first person to cover a similar distance in 2012, taking 151 days to complete the journey. Gianotti's goal is to surpass Bhuring's record and possibly enter the Guinness World Records.

A Challenging Route and Extensive Preparation

Gianotti's route is far from easy, as she will have to cover an average of 215 kilometers per day. However, Gianotti is not afraid of the challenge. She has undergone extensive training, sought advice from doctors and trainers, and feels confident in her abilities and physical condition. The motivation behind her ambitious journey stems from the economic downturn and the recent closure of her sports event organization business. Feeling at a loss and unemployed, Gianotti decided to "reboot" her life, leading to the idea of embarking on a bike ride across four continents.

A Journey of Discovery

Although the detailed route and the number and duration of stops along the way have not been revealed, it is known that Gianotti will start from Turin and head towards Naples. From Lisbon, she will fly to South America, where she will cycle through the Andes. Gianotti will then take another flight to Australia and continue her journey in Asia. Accompanying her on the trip will be two assistants who will travel in a support van. On March 8, 2014, Gianotti will set off on her grand cycling tour, hoping to not only celebrate endurance and athletic spirit but also set a new world record, which she hopes will be recognized by the renowned Guinness World Records.
