Biography of Patricia Grasso

Introduction

Patricia Grasso is an American writer whose work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the 'Choice' and 'Kiss' awards from Romantic Times magazine, the 'National Readers' Choice' award, and a special award for bestselling authors from B. Dalton and Bookrack. Her books have been published in twenty countries and translated into fifteen languages.

Early Life and Education

Patricia H. Grasso was born in Massachusetts. She developed a passion for reading while in school and would even read her favorite novel, "Gone with the Wind," during class, hiding it behind her history textbook. However, she was disappointed with the ending of the book and wished for a happier ending between Rhett and Scarlett. Patricia also enjoyed complex crime stories, which belonged to her favorite genre of television shows. She even attended shooting courses and became proficient in shooting a pistol.

After finishing school without any notable achievements, Patricia decided to pursue humanities. She attended university and obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in English philology. During her studies, she worked various jobs, including being a secretary at an insurance company, a telephone operator, and even a food delivery person at a Japanese restaurant while dressed in a kimono. After earning her degree, Patricia started teaching English literature first to younger students and later to high school graduates. She taught for almost thirty years before realizing that her life lacked creativity.

Writing Career

During a conversation with a friend about a book they had recently read, Patricia mentioned that she could write a book just as well. Her friend challenged her to do so, and Patricia began writing her first manuscript. It took her nearly five years to complete it. Acknowledging her mistakes, she learned through trial and error, constantly rereading her favorite authors.

In 1991, Patricia's first novel, 'Highland Belle,' was published. This adventurous love story between a stubborn Scottish lord and a feisty English girl, set against the backdrop of historical conflicts in the late Middle Ages, captivated readers. This novel marked the beginning of the "Deveraux-MacArthur" family saga, with the second book, 'Emerald Enchantment,' released the following year. To date, Patricia Grasso has written around twenty works, primarily focusing on romance and historical themes. In addition to the "Deveraux" series, which includes six novels, she has written the "Duke" trilogy, three books in the "Douglas Family" series, and seven books in the "Casanova" series, all connected through the character of the Duchess of Inveraray. Most of her novels take place during the Elizabethan era or the Regency period. Although she dreams of writing a contemporary novel, Patricia can't part ways with her beloved historical characters. Her most recent work, published in 2012, is 'Pagan Bride,' which combines Scottish charm, events of Mary, Queen of Scots' era, and the supernatural abilities of the heroine. This book, like some of her recent works, was released in electronic format.

Reception and Popularity in Russia

Approximately half of Patricia Grasso's books have been translated into Russian, including all the novels in the "Deveraux" series. Most readers prefer the books in this series. The top-rated novels in online rankings are 'Welsh Witch,' 'Desire of My Heart,' and 'Emerald Enchantment,' which stand out for their Scottish exoticism, ancient mysticism, and unusual main characters. Other series books have been published as separate novels by Russian publishers; however, readers particularly appreciate the books that were part of the partially overlapping "Casanova" and "Flambeau Sisters" series. The novel 'Marrying the Duke' received the most positive reviews. Patricia currently resides in her parents' house, which she fully restored and renovated. Despite claiming to love dogs, her house is home to several cats at once. In jest, Patricia admits that she would like to be a model for Victoria's Secret in her next life, as long as she is fortunate enough to be born with the right looks.
