Patricia Owens was a Canadian actress known for her work in both film and television. Born on January 17, 1925, in Golden, British Columbia, Owens had a successful career spanning several decades.

Early Life and Career

In 1933, Owens moved to England with her parents. At the age of 18, she made her film debut in the musical comedy "Miss London Ltd." directed by Val Guest. The following year, she landed a small role in Harold French's social satire "English Without Tears." Over the next few years, Owens' career continued to flourish as she received more significant roles in higher-profile films.

Hollywood Breakthrough

Owens's career took a significant turn when she was noticed by a director from 20th Century Fox while performing in the play "Sabrina Fair." She signed a contract with the studio and relocated to Hollywood. Her first American film was "Island in the Sun" (1956), followed by the drama "Sayonara" (1957) in which she starred alongside Marlon Brando. Owens spent the remainder of 1957 working on various projects.

Notable Works and Later Career

In 1958, Owens had a productive year with several projects under the banner of 20th Century Fox. She portrayed Helene Delambre, the wife of scientist Andre Delambre, in the film "The Fly" (1958), alongside David Hedison and Vincent Price. Unfortunately, "The Fly" remained Owens's most significant work. She later appeared in guest roles on television shows such as "Perry Mason" and "Burke's Law." Owens also had a role in one of the episodes of the series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," titled "The Crystal Trench." Her final on-screen appearance was in a 1968 episode of "Lassie."

Personal Life and Death

Owens was the third wife of screenwriter and producer Sy Bartlett. She passed away on August 31, 2000, at the age of 75. Owens was laid to rest in Lancaster, California, USA.
