Biography of Patrick Le Quément
Patrick Le Quément, the former Chief Designer of Renault, is renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to the automotive industry.
Early Life and Education
Born on February 4, 1945, in Marseille, France, Le Quément pursued his passion for design at the Birmingham Polytechnic in the United Kingdom, where he earned a degree in Industrial Design and Engineering. He further honed his skills at the Ashridge Management College in Dunbury, UK.
Early Career
Le Quément's career began in 1966 when he joined SIMKA as a junior designer. In 1967, he established his own independent design studio, Style International. Notably, he joined Ford in 1968 as a designer and rose to the position of Program Director of Special Vehicles at the design center of the company's American division.
Volkswagen AG and Renault
In 1985, Le Quément moved to Volkswagen AG's Future Design Studio. Two years later, he accepted an invitation from Renault and became the company's Chief Designer.
Notable Designs
Under Le Quément's leadership, Renault produced iconic models such as the Megane, Scenic, Laguna, Zoom, Raoon, Argos, Ludo Modus, Initiale, and others. These vehicles were characterized by bold and innovative design elements that reshaped the automotive landscape.
