Early Life and Education

Paul Albert was born in Thionville, France, on December 14, 1827.
Academic Career

- Professor at Poitiers (1859): Albert began his professorship at the faculty in Poitiers.

- Lectures at École normale (1878): He subsequently delivered lectures on Latin literature at the esteemed École normale in Paris.

- Collège de France (1878): Albert became the successor to Loménie at the prestigious Collège de France.

Works and Legacy

- Lectures for Sorbonne (1869-1870): At the request of Minister Duruy, Albert presented lectures for women at the Sorbonne, which were later compiled into the renowned works:

- "La poésie, études sur les chef-d'oeuvres des poètes de tous les temps et de tous les pays" (1869)

- "La prose, études sur les chef-d'oeuvres des prosateurs de tous les temps et de tous les pays" (1870)

Later Life and Death

Paul Albert passed away in Paris, France, on June 21, 1880.
