Biography of Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey was a renowned American radio broadcaster. He began his career in radio in 1933 and went on to become a household name in the United States. After serving in the army, Harvey joined the WENR radio station in Chicago, which was part of the ABC network, in 1944.

In 1951, Harvey's daily news program "Paul Harvey News and Comment" started airing on the ABC Radio Network, gaining him immense popularity. The program, which was broadcasted on 1,200 radio stations, had a weekly audience of up to 22 million listeners.

In 1976, Harvey introduced a series of original programs called "The Rest of the Story," which became his signature. These programs captivated audiences with their intriguing and unexpected stories.

In late 2000, at the age of 82, Harvey signed a $100 million contract with ABC Radio Network for a period of 10 years. However, due to declining health, he stopped hosting his daily news program in April 2008. Despite this, he continued to be involved in the preparation of select episodes until his passing.

Throughout his career, Paul Harvey received numerous professional awards and honors. In 2005, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
